Love is a Battlefield: Pat Benatar Still Rocking It!

Here’s one for the Gen-X crowd…  I dug (and I dig) Pat Benatar.  This is a great little NPR acoustic concert with her long-time husband and guitarist Neil Giraldo.  Both of them still have “it.”  Wonderful.

Tone of the Gods

Oh yeah … at least 11.

A Grunch of First-Class Talent Practicing for Their 1992 Gig

Here’s a terrific behind-the-scenes video of George Harrison, Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Eric Clapton, Tom Petty, and (perhaps lesser known) friends practicing together for a 1992 30th-anniversary tribute concert for Bob Dylan:

2014 First Post: Imogen Heap Paired with Jeff Beck

I’ve been an Imogen Heap fan for years — here’s a delightful pairing (who would have thought?) of Imogen and virtuoso guitarist Jeff Beck. I love to watch Mr. Beck make his Stratocaster sing. Chill out with this tune.

Jack White, Conan, and Carl LaFong

While watching a great interview of Jack White by Conan O’Brian, was turned on to a well-known skit, “Carl LaFong”, by W.C. Fields. Jack White and Conan have a bonding moment about W.C. Afterwards I was […]

Rush: Musicians, First Class

Rush … is Rush. I wanted a YYZ bookmark in memory space…

100 Riffs (A Brief History of Rock N’ Roll)

This makes me giggle with delight … way to go man!

Sound City Trifecta

If you’re a lover of music, a history buff, or an engineer (or on some sort of blended journey of these) do yourself a favor and go view Dave Grohl’s Sound City. I promise you won’t regret it. There are several themes in this loose but passionate documentary: the story of Sound City Studios, the […]

Hacking Travel Guitars

I travel a lot and have been thinking about what would be the least cumbersome and most economical means to have a guitar on the road.  I’d like to avoid awkward carry-on dancing and TSA x-ray machine jitterbugging: ideally I’d get a guitar that conceivably could fit snugly in a large suit case.  There are […]
